Systematic Theology: God and His Word

J. I. Packer says, "There's no greater thought we can think than the thought of God."

A theology class is designed for us to think great things, to contemplate truths that come from outside our own existence. Unlike many deep philosophical contemplations, the study of God culminates in our joy, for God is the fountainhead of all joy. Systematic theology can intimidate many people, but really, it is simply an organized way to talk about the many wonderful works of God.

If you know the joy of contemplating and studying God more deeply, then join us, and let’s wade deeper into the waters together. If you’ve never touched a toe into this pool, then there’s no better time than now—for studying God brings us joy. As J. I. Packer also says, "Knowing God is a relationship calculated to thrill a man's heart.”

Join us for Systematic Theology: God and His Word beginning Wednesday, January 14 from 6:30–8:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. This class will be taught by Pastor Matt.

Learn How to Read Revelation

Learn How to Read Revelation

Have you longed to understand the Book of Revelation with greater clarity and faithfulness?

Many of us open its pages and ask, “What is the Lord revealing to His church here?” We invite you to join us for a workshop with Dr. Brandon D. Smith, who will help us approach not only Revelation but all of Scripture with sound interpretation, humility, and confidence in God’s Word.

If you desire to grow in rightly handling the Scriptures, and in reading complex biblical texts with wisdom, we warmly encourage you to take part in this gathering.

Dr. Smith holds a PhD from Ridley College in Melbourne and serves as chair of the Hobbs School of Theology and Ministry and associate professor of theology and early Christianity at Oklahoma Baptist University. He is a cofounder of the Center for Baptist Renewal, host of the Church Grammarpodcast, and the author of several books, including Taught by God, our next book club selection. Come join us as we seek to understand God’s Word more deeply and faithfully.

Saturday, January 3 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. Lunch is provided. The registration cost is $10.

Symphony of Scripture

The fact that the Bible is divided up into chapters and verses, and the fact that the Bible is also divided up into sixty-six books, can make us want to read it as if it's made up of individual parts with individual meanings or purposes. But in fact, the Bible is one book, written by a divine author through many different human authors. That divine author has told us about our past, speaks to us about our present, and uses both to reveal our future. Most importantly, our future according to this story, is not only a time or a place but a person.

Join us in the Multi-Purpose Room on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:00 PM beginning on August 20. This is a 12 week class and childcare is available upon registration.

During registration, you'll be able to choose between an academic book with rich detail or a more accessible option that offers a broad overview of the Bible's story.
